Description

  • During fund creation (fund_create), deadline_set is initialized to false.

  • In set_deadline, the code checks that deadline_set is false before allowing the change, but never updates it to true afterward.

  • As a result, the creator can call set_deadline as many times as they want, even after contributions have already been made.

Risk

Likelihood:

  • The creator can arbitrarily change the deadline at any moment, even after users have contributed or after the original deadline has passed.

Impact:

  • Completely breaks the core trust assumption of the crowdfunding platform: that once a deadline is set, it should be final and immutable.

  • The creator can extend the deadline indefinitely to keep collecting funds, move it to the past to prevent refunds, or manipulate timing however they want.

  • Severely undermines the integrity, fairness, and security of the entire protocol.

Proof of Concept

The following steps show how an attacker (the fund creator) can exploit the missing flag update to change the deadline multiple times after contributions have been made:

Additional recommendations

  • Fix the consistent typo: dealine_set → deadline_set everywhere in the contract.

  • Consider adding extra validations in set_deadline (e.g., deadline > current timestamp).
