withdraw() never resets amount_raised, enabling repeated withdrawals and broken accounting

Description

The withdraw instruction is meant to let the fund creator collect the raised SOL once. After transferring the funds, it should mark the fund as emptied so the same balance cannot be claimed again.

The problem is that withdraw() transfers amount_raised lamports to the creator but never resets fund.amount_raised to zero. The accounting field stays at its old value after the withdrawal, so it no longer reflects the true withdrawable balance. Combined with contribute() (which keeps adding to the same field and has no notion of the fund being "closed"), the creator can withdraw against a stale/re-inflated amount_raised, and there is no coordination with refund().

Risk

Likelihood:

  • Occurs whenever a creator withdraws and then any new contribution arrives: amount_raised still carries the previously withdrawn total plus the new amount.

  • No state flag marks the fund as withdrawn/closed, and contribute() keeps incrementing the same field unconditionally.

Impact:

  • Fund accounting is permanently corrupted after the first withdrawal; amount_raised overstates the real withdrawable balance.

  • The creator can withdraw more than they are entitled to once new contributions arrive (re-withdrawing amounts tied to a stale total), draining lamports that should back contributor refunds.

  • Contributors may be left unable to refund because the lamports backing their contribution were already taken.

Proof of Concept

  1. Creator creates a fund.

  2. Alice contributes 5 SOL -> amount_raised = 5.

  3. Creator calls withdraw -> receives 5 SOL, but amount_raised stays 5 (not reset).

  4. Bob contributes 3 SOL -> amount_raised = 8 (should be 3).

  5. Creator calls withdraw again -> attempts to take 8 SOL against a balance that only legitimately holds 3, draining lamports reserved for refunds / breaking accounting.

Note: this PoC demonstrates the core accounting flaw (amount_raised not reset). Running it requires the Anchor test setup; the logic error is evident from the source regardless.

Recommended Mitigation

Reset amount_raised to 0 after a successful withdrawal. Additionally, consider a boolean flag (e.g., withdrawn) or blocking further contributions once withdrawn, to prevent contribute() from re-inflating the field and to coordinate with refund().

The creator withdraws the 10 SOL (withdrawal succeeds) when goal is reached and deadline past. 4. The `amount_raised` in the contract remains at 10 SOL, though the actual balance is now 0. 5. A new contributor donates 2 SOL to support the ongoing project. 6. The creator tries to withdraw this new contribution. 7. The withdrawal fails with an "InsufficientFunds" error because the contract tries to withdraw 12 SOL (the accumulated `amount_raised`), but only 2 SOL is available in the account. 8.
